What part of Canada will you call home?
Canada is a welcoming nation. With 10 provinces and 3 territories making up the country, there are many options for settlement. Plus, each region has its own immigration program, known as a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). So, you can choose whether to apply for immigration through a federal Canadian program or a provincial program. Even with provincial programs, the federal government plays a role in your immigration journey.
Some immigration programs have overlap, so we recommend that those thinking about immigrating to Canada talk to a regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant in order to understand the options and have advice on choosing the right program. Your needs and dreams for the future will help define where you would like to settle and what programs are the best fit.
Potential immigrants need to spend time getting to know each province or territory they are considering so that they know what kinds of weather, geography, amenities and other things are available where they choose to live. Having information beforehand makes a significant difference to supporting expectations.
Each provincial or territorial program is different and we can help you better understand requirements and timelines as well as whether your skills are a fit or not.
Beaches, wine country, mountains and more
British Columbia is perhaps one of the most diverse provinces in Canada. The geography and climate vary dramatically depending upon where you are in the province. Most residents live in the southern part of the province or on Vancouver Island. This leads to immigrant settling in areas like Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria and Abbotsford as they are large cities/communities where there are many other immigrants.
Other regions also offer incredible opportunities. Prince George is a city just shy of ½ way up the province, north of Vancouver. The Okanagan is a very popular region with large communities like Kelowna, Kamloops and Vernon. Even north west of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Terrace and Kitimat are seeing increased growth.
It’s important to reach out to various community organizations to have a good feel for the communities you are considering settling in. We can help you arrange your application to the BC PNP program and determine which of the programs is the best fit. While we have noted the most popular three here, if you’ve decided to settle in BC and aren’t sure if you’re a fit, ask us about the other options.
