SUPER VISA
If the term Super Visa sounds exciting to you, that’s good, because it is. The government of Canada recognized that sometimes families need each other for longer than a few months even though they live in different countries. The Super Visa is valid for 10 years and allows parents and grandparents to come to Canada for up to two years for the first visit, then up to a year on subsequent visits.
When someone takes a new job, has a child, experiences a health concern, having help from family can make all the difference towards success. It also allows for meaningful memories to rom when children and grandchildren want to spend more time with their parents and grandparents. Plus, because immigrants on a Super Visa are able to move freely throughout Canada, everyone can vacation and explore the country together!
The Super Visa applicant requires a sponsor who is:
- A child or grandchild of the sponsored person; provides a written commitment of financial support; meets the minimum income threshold.
A Super Visa applicant is:
- The parent or grandparent of the sponsor; admissible to Canada as a visitor; has purchased and can prove Canadian medical insurance for at least one year; and has undergone an immigration medical exam.
